America the cargo cult

What is a “cargo cult”?

A cargo cult is a religious practice that has appeared in many traditional pre-industrial tribal societies in the wake of interaction with technologically advanced cultures. The cults focus on obtaining the material wealth (the "cargo") of the advanced culture through magic and religious rituals and practices. Cult members believe that the wealth was intended for them by their deities and ancestors. Cargo cults developed primarily in remote parts of New Guinea and other Melanesian and Micronesian societies in the southwest Pacific Ocean, beginning with the first significant arrivals of Westerners in the 19th century. Similar behaviors have, however, also appeared elsewhere in the world.

Cargo cult activity in the Pacific region increased significantly during and immediately after World War II, when the residents of these regions observed the Japanese and American combatants bringing in large amounts of matériel. When the war ended, the military bases closed and the flow of goods and materials ceased. In an attempt to attract further deliveries of goods, followers of the cults engaged in ritualistic practices such as building crude imitation landing strips, aircraft and radio equipment, and mimicking the behavior that they had observed of the military personnel operating them. (from Wikipedia)

That is exactly what the United States has become: a cargo cult. Americans think that all they have to do is wave the flag, quote the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, beat their patriotic breasts, and appeal to the god of Manifest Destiny to restore the material wealth we once enjoyed and still deserve.

It ain’t gonna happen, because “goodness” and “God’s will” were not the source of “our” wealth:
  • We invaded the Americas, exterminated the local populations, and stole their wealth.
  • To make the process easier, we kidnapped millions of Africans and brought them here to be our slaves.
  • When our windfall started to run out, we invaded other countries to steal their wealth, too.
  • We overthrew the elected governments of additional countries, and installed sock-puppet dictators to oppress their own people while “our” corporations stole their wealth.
  • Any time the people (here or there) started to get uppity and demand a fair share of this wealth, we financed counter-revolutions to put them back in their place, usually setting them even further back than from where they started.

Well, Mr. and Mrs. Tea Party, you can rally all you want, listen to Rush Limbaugh, read books by Glenn Beck until your eyeballs pop out, wave the flag and scream all day and all night until your throat is sore, and pretend to do everything you say the Founders did: “your” wealth will never return.

And that’s because not only has America become a cargo cult, but the new persons (corporations) and their servant President Obama ad-Dajjal have persuaded the whores and cocksuckers in "your" Congress that they are more worth saving than you. Say all the Hail Mary’s you want, “your” wealth is not coming back.

You didn’t earn it in the first place.
