Note that US citizens, docile sheep that we are, have been doing NOTHING to protect the natural resources on which our lives depend from the rich bastards who want to rape them. Indigenous peoples, who know from personal experience what happens when prospectors, miners, and drillers arrive, know that the rapists MUST be defeated before they can sink their hooks into the land. Once the wealth has been extracted, the only things left will be toxic tailings piles, poisoned water, and sick human beings.
