Almost Orwellian

Great essay by Judge Napolitano about a court case concerning the NSA's unconstitutional activities:

I would disagree with him on two points, however:
  • This is not "almost Orwellian" ... it IS Orwellian, and
  • I see no cause for great joy ... yet.

There is absolutely no meaningful oversight of the NSA and agencies like it. The judge may believe that we have won a small victory, but in reality no one knows what these people have been doing or what they intend to do. Even if we put them all in jail they would probably still keep doing whatever they want, or farm it out to their Israeli or British buddies over whom we never will have any control.
