It appears to refer to the visions which the Catholic Saint Malachy experienced in 1139 AD and which resulted in the 900 year old "Prophecy of the Popes". You can find an explanation of this prophecy here:

In the timeline suggested by this prophecy, the current Pope Francis is No. 112, the final pope, and his papacy therefore suggests that the End Times will soon be upon us.
Well, obviously the current pope did not take the name "Peter", but all modern popes are the heirs of Saint Peter's legacy. As far as I am concerned, this means he (and all of them really) are "Petrus Romanus".
Francis is also the first Jesuit pope, which is an interesting development. The Jesuits are a quasi-military organization which considers its members to be "soldiers of G-d":

Perhaps it's a mere coincidence that the 112th pope in this sequence belongs to a group which is active in 112 nations, but I do not believe in coincidence. Do you?
Let's examine further the claim that Petrus Romanus as the "pope of Rome" can be associated with the Mother of Harlots who sits upon the beast mentioned in Chapter 17 of the Book of Revelation:
And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

As I have stated in previous blog posts, the so-called "Statue of Liberty" in New York harbor depicts the biblical Mother of Harlots. In front of her on Liberty Island, there is a sign which states that the seven rays of the statue's crown represent "the seven seas and continents of the world".
As we read above, the Society of Jesus is active on six continents, but at least one of their members working for the Vatican Observatory has taken part in the Antarctic Search for Meteorites. This puts the Jesuits on seven continents (or mountains), and it is on these seven continents that the harlot sits (not just the seven hills of Rome).
My point here is that the false religion of the End Times, with its false prophet, Antichrist, and false Christs will be present on all seven continents of this earth. This makes the Jesuits, their pope, and any religious system present on all seven continents potential candidates, but not the only candidates.
Therefore, I am not convinced that Pope Francis is the Petrus Romanus of the 900 year prophecy.
