City In Ruins - Palmyra Vs. Detroit

Many in the US have lamented the destruction of Palmyra in Syria. Here is a view of the ruins:


But too few have lamented the destruction of Detroit in Michigan. Here is a view of THEIR ruins:


Yes, ISIS (whoever they are) destroyed valuable artifacts in Syria and have come close to destroying a way of life.

However, the forces (whoever they are) that destroyed Detroit were just as thorough. They wrecked the "Arsenal of Democracy", much of the production capacity of an entire nation, a housing industry, an urban tax base, a city government, a pension system, a family structure, and at least one generation of a former great city's population.

So why are we so upset about Syria and so devil-may-care about Detroit? What's wrong with you people?
