Following the shootings at Kent State University in 1970, colleges shut down across the country. I got to go home early. The issue back then was the war in Vietnam.
Now campuses are in upheaval and/or shutting down again, this time over diversity (?). Here is a photo essay covering the issue:

Back then, was the issue really the war itself ... or the fact that some of us didn't want to be drafted and sent to fight in Vietnam?
And is the issue today really diversity (the lack thereof) ... or is it an attack on what is perceived to be "Western values" (i.e., "white values")?
Something tells me the same basic factors which were in play then are still in play now. We're sick of what the powers that be have been doing to us, and we're not going to take it anymore.
But here is my greatest fear - in the 70s, we "solved" the problem by blaming everything on Nixon and inducing him to resign. We seem to be going down a similar road today, and we'll "solve" the problem this time by making Trump the patsy and somehow getting rid of him.
But, then as now, the basic problem will remain - the pigs who are in charge. The pigs today are the offspring of the pigs of the 70s, and they're going to bounce right back the way their ancestors did.
And We The People once again won't get a damn thing we want or need.
