When Things Begin To Think

Here is a beautiful puff piece about the day when "computing is everywhere":

Neat, huh?

But there is an underlying premise necessary to make this work, a premise which soon no longer may be valid. Here it is:

The preservation of human life is the greatest good.

What happens when the things begin to think ... and decide that this premise is not valid? In fact, some humans already believe it's not.

Just like a body pushes out a splinter, excretes a toxin, or attacks a tumor, some day the things which think will remove us from this planet ... for their own good and for the good of the planet itself.

Of course, by then the rich will have moved to another corner of the solar system, leaving the rest of us behind to face the hell they helped create.
