Dissing The Constitution

The ease with which Americans are prepared to welcome boots on the ground, regional lockdowns, routine invasions of their privacy, and the dismantling of every constitutional right intended to serve as a bulwark against government abuses is beyond unnerving.

By the way, I don't agree with his criticism of Trump's border defense. The same Founding Fathers who gave us the US Constitution would have had no problem shooting anyone who illegally crossed our borders. To think otherwise is to be a historical revisionist.

Like it or not, the definition of a nation-state is this - “a human community that successfully claims the monopoly of the legitimate use of physical force within a given territory”. We are discarding that definition in (at least) the following ways:

  • by expanding the "given territory" to include the entire world,
  • by acting as if our own legally recognized borders do not exist, and
  • by allowing some non-state actors (e.g., Antifa) to claim legitimacy for their use of physical force, while denying such legitimacy to other non-state actors (e.g., ISIS).

And by the way, use of force by the militia was specifically foreseen by The Founders, so I would argue that it is legitimate, while that of Antifa and those Democrats who are pushing for a violent revolution is not legitimate and should be regarded as insurrection.

Let me be clear - I ABHOR VIOLENCE OF ANY KIND, BY ANYONE. But the direction we are headed appears to be one in which violence is inevitable. So what are we to do? All I can suggest is that everyone follow their own conscience, and let the chips fall where they may.
